Darius Stone, a new agent in the xXx program, is sent to Washington, D.C. to stop a coup attempt against the President of the United States.
Agent Augustus Gibbons has selected an imprisoned former US Navy SEAL Darius Stone, a new agent in the XXX program, travels to Washington D.C., where they track a splinter faction of the U.S. military that attempts to overthrow the U.S. government and assassinate the President, led by Secretary of Defense and former 4-Star General George Deckert, Stone's former commanding officer whom he once led a mutiny against. But he's been targeted for assassination by a radical splinter group of dissenters deep within the United States government. The new XXX agent must uncover the insurgents from within. It is the nation's only hope to stop the first coup d'etat in American history.
xXx: State of the Union was not much worse than its predecessor in my opinion. I put Ice Cube and Vin Diesel on equal footing with their poor acting ability. Vin Diesel is a little bit more believable and acceptable as an action hero simply because he is more fit and muscle bound, and because I never heard Vin Diesel rap about being a hood banger from South Central L.A.<br/><br/>Still, xXx: State of the Union was rife with extreme type stunts of which I wasn&#39;t impressed with. But, as an extra bonus we were treated with pimp my combat vehicle. That was the final stamp on this movie to say: Noooo, the evil doers don&#39;t want any part of the hood.
I watched this movie at school a few days ago (because our teacher let us) because one of my mates had a pirated DVD copy. I rue his taste in movies.<br/><br/>I never saw the original xXx, but I can imagine it can&#39;t be as bad as this. It has nothing remarkable about it - every shot is punctuated with either an explosion or a painfully unfunny one-liner. Or, in most cases, both.<br/><br/>This is an attempt to try and cash in on the &quot;gangsta&quot; subculture while trying to make a Bond clone. The idea of gangbangers helping to save the nation is incomprehensible, above all other ideas.<br/><br/>I don&#39;t mind the occasional &quot;switch-off-your-mind-and-watch&quot; flick, but this one was too stupid. Avoid like the plague.
What's fun is that the road to that climactic Capitol showdown is paved with one ridiculous and relentlessly edited set piece after another.
Similar to the situation with the prequel – the British Board of Film Classification insisted on cuts for the BBFC-12 rating and therefore one scene had to be altered in order to obtain this rating.
